Having waved goodbye to our beautiful production of The Pearlfishers earlier this month, we wanted to pause and reflect on the wonderful time we had bringing this classic romance to life and share with you, some wonderful audience feedback.
Everything about this opera was pure bliss. From Emma Matthews’ performance, to the costumes, scenery (and the marvelously quick changes), Opera Queensland Chorus (truly splendid), and all the other performers. This was a truly wonderful opera experience, congratulations OperaQ.
Emma Matthews and Aldo Di Toro were faultless and the orchestra was brilliant. I can’t wait for the next one.
The production was as visually and musically satisfying as anything on the European stage with strong, equally matched singers supported by a great chorus.
Singing, costumes, setting were all exquisite. OperaQ, you excelled.
Congratulations to our Paspaley competition winner, Larah on her beautiful prize. Larah was thrilled to accept her Australian South Sea keshi pearl earrings and reported that she thoroughly enjoyed the production. We look forward to seeing Larah and her pearls at the opera!
Au fond du temple saint taking out the top spot in the ABC Classic 100 is the cherry on top of what has been a fantastic production of The Pearlfishers. And it’s all thanks to you, our loyal supporters, who answered the call to vote. So, thank-you and congratulations on your achievement!
Next year’s number one may well be a piece of music from Lindy Hume’s production of Ruddigore, or the Witch’s Curse, coming to the Playhouse in July. We look forward to seeing you there.
