Born in Adelaide, Grant Doyle studied at the Elder Conservatorium and the Royal College of Music in London. He was subsequently a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. For the Royal Opera he has performed Ping in Turandot, Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos, Schaunard in La bohème and Billy Wayne Smith in Anna Nicole.
Major opera credits include Yeletsky in Queen of Spades, Zurga in Pearl Fishers and Marcello in La bohème for Opera Holland Park; Forester in Cunning Little Vixen and Don Giovanni for Garsington Opera; Abraham in Clemency for Scottish Opera; Robin Oakapple in Ruddigore for Opera North; Schaunard for Glyndebourne; Demetrius in A Midsummers Night’s Dream for Teatro Real Madrid and Komische Oper Berlin; Ned Keene in Peter Grimes for Teatro Pérez Galdós, Gran Canaria; and Mike in I Was Looking at the Ceiling for Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. For English Touring Opera he has sung the title role in The Barber of Seville, Orestes in Iphigénie en Tauride, and Hector in King Priam.
In Australia, Grant has performed Orestes in Iphigénie en Tauride for Pinchgut Opera; as well as Don Giovanni, Zurga, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and Starbuck in Moby Dick for State Opera of South Australia for which he received the 2012 Helpmann Award for Best Supporting Male Singer.
Future engagements include Sir Thomas in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park for Grange Festival, Papageno in The Magic Flute for Longborough Festival Opera and Macbeth for English Touring Opera.
