Hansel & Gretel in your school
Hansel & Gretel is specifically designed for primary school aged children (prep-6) and covers themes of storytelling, bravery, friendship and trust.
Throughout the performance, and back in their classrooms, students are able to use key critical thinking skills to analyse the themes relating to their own context and world. Live performance enhances learning for students, making your job as the teacher easier when deconstructing the curriculum links that are prevalent in the production – from storytelling, narrative structure, use of song, bullying, loyalty, overcoming fear – it’s all covered.
This modern adaptation is presented against a dynamic multi-media backdrop and performed by a cast of Queensland’s most effervescent opera talents with on-screen appearances of some of the state’s most experienced singers.
The show runs for 50 minutes and is followed by a 10 minute Q&A session where the students and other audience members can interact with the artists out of characters, ask questions about the show, production elements and the music.
