Opera Queensland will present Giuseppe Verdi’s La traviata from 7 to 16 May 2015 at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre, taking audiences on an emotional rollercoaster as love explodes, but inevitably shatters in one of the most heartbreaking love stories ever told.
Inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ romantic novel La dame aux Camélias, which is based on the life of famed French courtesan Marie Duplessis, new audiences will recognise La traviata’s tragic plot from Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge.
To coax new audiences, we are offering 2,000 La traviata tickets at $25* located in Balcony Two. Click here to access your $25 tickets.
Artistic Director Lindy Hume hopes the low ticket price will encourage people to try opera for the first time:
“La traviata is the centerpiece of OperaQ’s 2015 season and this is a great opportunity for first-timers to experience grand opera. This does not mean we will compromise on quality – audiences can expect sumptuous staging, some of opera’s most catchy arias and the country’s best singers. Come and discover why La traviata is the world’s most performed opera.”
