HOT OFF THE PRESS – former OperaQ Young Artist, Kiandra Howarth stunned London audiences as Adina in L’elisir d’amore at The Royal Opera House last night.
Kiandra made her Opera Queensland debut in 2009 performing the role of Josie in the youth opera Dirty Apple. In 2010 Kiandra performed in the chorus of The Elixir of Love and Aida and understudied the role of Despina in Cosi fan tutte in 2011.
During her time at OperaQ Kiandra was a recipient of a number of prizes and awards including; first place in the Southeast Queensland Aria Competition, second place in the Dame Joan Sutherland Awards and scholarships such as the Mozart Operatic Institute award, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama award and the Dr Handa prize and the Symphony Australia Young Vocalist Award.
Kiandra Howarth joined The Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in September 2013. In the 2013/14 Season she performed the role of Flowermaiden in Parsifal, Voice of Unborn Child in Die Frau ohne Schatten and Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos for The Royal Opera. This Season she has sung Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto and Giannetta for The Royal Opera.
