Andrew has created lighting designs for Brisbane’s premier arts organisations including Expressions Dance Company, Queensland Theatre, Opera Queensland, Queensland Ballet, La Boite Theatre Company and Harvest Rain Theatre Company.
Andrew has a strong connection with the independent performing arts sector in Brisbane and has worked extensively in production management and lighting design with diva Carita Farrer, Polytoxic Dance Theatre (Teuila Postcards and Rat Trap), The Brides of Frank, Tom Greder and Scott Witt (Mondays), X-Collective (Queensland Symphony Orchestra ensemble), Woodford Folk Festival (Millennium Fire Event 2000, and the festival main stage 2008 and 2009), Linsey Pollak, Brian Lucas (Performance Anxiety), The Good Ship (Seven Seas) and Brisbane Cabaret Festival (2007 – 2010).
Internationally, Andrew was Lighting Systems Engineer on The Lion King in Johannesburg (2007) and Lighting Operator in Taipei (2008). In 2014, Andrew was Production Manager and recreated the lighting for Marrugeku’s European tour of Gudirr Gudirr. He has twice lit The Pirates of Penzance – in 2001 for Simon Gallaher and Essgee Entertainment and in 2015 for Harvest Rain Theatre Company’s reimagining of the G&S classic.
For OperaQ, Andrew has been Head Electrician since 2004, was Production Coordinator for Studio 4101 (2015), and was Lighting Designer for Candide (2015).
In 2017, he’ll return to OperaQ as Lighting Designer for Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse.
